Red, White & Boom • Time: 8:00 PM |
| Where:
Cape Coral Parkway • Cape Coral |
| Cat Country 107.1 presents Heidi Newfield as the 2011 headlining act for the City of Cape Coral ReMax Realty Team Red, White & Boom this 4th of July. Heidi will take to the Roger Dean Chevrolet Stage at 8:00pm perform until the start of the fireworks display.
After a great first time out as a solo artist Heidi is back with a new single and what looks like a new album. On her first solo record Heidi reached the top 15 on the charts. Her next singles were as successful even though I thought they deserved a little more attention. Things don't always work out, but Heidi is back now with a great new track.
Stay Up Late is Heidi's latest release. The song sees Heidi getting back to the attitude we saw from her back in the Trick Pony days. We also got a glimpse of it again on her first solo album.
Stay Up Late is about a woman that doesn't really want to go out and party it up on the town. Her idea of an enjoyable evening is more along the lines of heading to bed early with her man and perhaps staying up a bit late.
The rest is left to imagination and I think it's best that way.
If I had to venture a guess I'd say this could be another hit for Heidi. Things are always a bit different over at Curb Records. First singles from albums tend to do well while others fall short. That's a general observation, but if things go that way this could be Heidi's second big country hit as a solo artist. Heidi is talented and always has that different kind of sass in her voice. Stay Up Late definitely has the kind of sound a big portion of country fans are looking to hear and for that reason I think this song will find an audience.
Southwest Florida's local favorite Smack Daddy will be the opening band at 5:30pm. |

Ken Brady Brings Back the Music of the Casinos and So Much More! • Time: 7:00 PM |
| Where:9:00 PM
Cultural Center of Charlotte County • Port Charlotte |
| Enjoy an evening full of music and memories at The Cultural Center Theater on Saturday, September 17 at 7:00 pm. Ken Brady led the Casinos from 1962-1965. His voice hasn't diminished one bit and he is a treat for the ears in his one-man show. General admission tickets are $5 for Cultural Center members or $6 for non-members. This is the last installment of our summer series at these door buster prices, so get out of the heat and enjoy a sampling of all that the Theater has to offer!
Ken began singing at 9 years of age when his parents placed him in local talent shows. Ken loved singing and has had the opportunity to share the stage with such artists as Otis Williams and The Charms, Carl Dobkins Jr., The Students, The Shirelles, Chubby Checker, and Jerry Lee Lewis. He performed with The Casinos, taking over for Gene Hughes, from 1962 through 1965 as the lead singer. The Casinos recorded John Loudermilk's song Then You Can Tell Me Goodbye. It was a hit for 10 weeks, passing The Beatles and other groups from across the pond! Today Ken sings Then You Can Tell Me Goodbye and other hits of the '50s and '60s such as Daddy's Home, Life Is But A Dream, Stand By Me and I Believe, all beautifully rendered by his tenor voice.
Tickets can be purchased at The Cultural Center Box Office, which is located at 2280 Aaron Street in Port Charlotte. We are open from 9am to 4pm Monday through Friday, from 10am to 2pm on Saturdays, and one hour before any show.
